The Bridge: Women and Heart Disease
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States and is responsible for 1 in every 4 female deaths. Heart diseases is traditionally though of as “man’s” disease but approximately the same number of women as men die from heart disease every year. Despite increasing awareness, only about 54% of women recognize that heart diseases is their NUMBER #1 killer! Almost 64% of women who die suddenly of coronary heart diseases have no previous symptoms. Even if you have no symptoms, you may still be at risk for heart disease.
